From approximately 80°C (PVD) to approximately 1000°C (CVD), films are placed on the material that can influence machined surfaces. The thickness of the film varies from a few nanometres to a few micrometres. Non-ageing films, an improvement on corrosion resistance or special characteristics can be added to the work piece.
